Yesterday, children from Y3 performed a very special retelling of ‘The Wind in the Willows’ at the stunning Sheffield Cathedral. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take any pictures to share with you. All the children performed amazingly and demonstrated their wonderful singing talent.
This week in maths we have been looking at different number and place value problems.
In this problem there are six numbers written in five different scripts.
We had to sort out which is which!
Here is one of our solutions:
We started with one hundred because it’s the only three digit number. However, there was only 3 of them. We then found all the twos because that is the only one digit number. Then we used the two to find all the twenty fives. We used the five to find all the fifty eights and then the eights to find the eighty threes. Then we used the threes to find the thirteens and the number left over was the missing one hundred.

Recently Y3 were part of a singing concert at the Sheffield Cathedral. Everyone performed really well and all their hard work and practice paid off.
This morning years 3&4 perfomed for our grown ups.
Our performance told the story of the first Christmas through song and dance.
Everyone sang amazingly and our teachers are all very proud of us.
On Friday, Sapphire Class visited the Sheffield City Hall with the rest of KS2 to watch the Hallé Orchestra perform. The theme this year was ‘Made in the British Isles’, and The Hallé played songs from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
The Hallé weren’t the only performers though! We all sang a song that we had been learning — ‘Faster Than Fairies’, which is based on a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson.
We really enjoyed seeing a real orchestra perform, our favourite piece of music was Palladio by Karl Jenkins.
